Live Online Italian Lessons for Adults and kids & B1 Citizenship Exam Prep
Ready to Speak Italian? Via!
Lingua Lunga Italian offers live online Italian lessons for adults and kids, including B1 Italian citizenship exam preparation and broader language certification preparation (A1–C2) through CILS, PLIDA, and CELI.
Wherever you’re starting from, whether you’ve never spoken a word of Italian or you’re on your 400th app lesson, you’ve probably said some version of this to yourself:
“I can’t keep doing these app lessons and still struggle to put a sentence together.”
“For my next trip to Italy, I really want to speak Italian and stop feeling embarrassed about it.”
“I’m really tired of spending family dinners waiting for someone to translate for me.”
“I don’t want my kids to lose this connection to their family heritage.”
“The citizenship language exam is real now. What if I don’t pass?”
“Italy already feels like part of me. I really want to speak Italian fluently and fit in.”
Every one of those moments is asking you to actually use Italian, not just memorize and recognize it, as many “traditional” methods teach. Here’s how Lingua Lunga does it differently…
The Lingua Lunga
“Feeling Italian” Method
Before you look at lesson formats, it’s worth understanding why the Lingua Lunga method works when other things haven’t.
Most methods hand you vocabulary lists and grammar drills and leave it up to you to turn that into an actual conversation. The Lingua Lunga method is built the other way around, by connecting Italian to real conversation, stories, and your own life from the start.
A Teacher Who
Knows You
You have one real, consistent teacher who you connect with, converse with, and who can adjust to your learning level and interests.
Immersion Through
Short Stories
Italian taught through short stories and everyday moments, the same approach behind my own short story Mistero a Carnevale.
Learning Tied
to Emotions
You learn Italian by tying it to your own memories, goals, and the life you're building, so what you learn actually stays with you.
From Learning Italian to Feeling Italian.

B1 Italian Citizenship Exam Prep & Italian Language Certification (A1–C2)
Language Certification Preparation
Whether you’re preparing for the B1 citizenship exam or pursuing certification for university or your career, we’ll build a plan around exactly where you are.
Certification preparation is available across A1 through C2 for exams administered through CILS, PLIDA, or CELI. Most students land here for one of three reasons:
B1 Citizenship Italian Language Exam Prep
Applying for Italian citizenship through marriage requires passing a B1 language certification exam administered by CILS, PLIDA, or CELI. This is focused, assessment-connected preparation built around your current level, not random study.
A2 Italian Exam Prep for EU Long-Term Residence Permit
Applying for an EU long-term residence permit in Italy requires passing the A2-level Italian language exam. This preparation is built the same way, focused, assessment-connected, and centered on exactly where you’re starting from.
Italian Language Certification Prep for University & Career
Planning to study or work in Italy? Universities often require proof of B1 or B2 certification depending on the program, and employers looking for multilingual professionals frequently give preference to candidates with a recognized language certification.
What certification preparation includes:
Lessons include practice based on real exam materials, written assignments, and three mock exams under exam conditions.
One-on-one lessons are held virtually on a video call. Beginner to advanced level.
Pricing:
- 8 x 45-minute lessons • €560
- 16 x 45-minute lessons • €1,088
- 24 x 45-minute lessons • €1,560

CILS Exam Prep
CILS is the Certificate of Italian as a second language issued by the University for Foreigners of Siena (Tuscany). Recognized by the Italian government. Exams scheduled twice a year, in June and December.

PLIDA Exam Prep
PLIDA is a language diploma issued by the Dante Alighieri Society certifying proficiency in the Italian language as a foreign language. Exam administered in Rome with academic approval from Sapienza University of Rome. Recognized by the Italian government. Exams scheduled multiple times a year.

CELI Exam Prep
CELI is a certification of Italian language competence issued by the University for Foreigners of Perugia through ALTE (Association of Language Testers in Europe). Recognized by Italy's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Exams scheduled multiple times a year.
Exams test five skills: listening, reading, grammar, writing, and speaking. The exams themselves are in person only, preparation happens online with your teacher.
All three exams are official, government-recognized certifications, valid internationally. During your initial assessment, we’ll help you choose the right certifying body and the right level, A1 through C2, including B1 for citizenship purposes.
This program has a proven track record of helping students walk into their exam prepared and successfully pass.

Frequently Asked Questions
Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither is your Italian. Here’s what most people want to know before they start.
I've tried to learn Italian before and it just didn't stick. Is this for me?
Yes, and honestly, that’s one of the most common starting points. A difficult past experience with Italian usually means the approach didn’t give you enough context, real practice, or feedback, not that you’re incapable. A failed method is not a failed learner.
Will online lessons feel impersonal?
The lesson is online. The relationship is real. You’re working with a live teacher who listens, responds, corrects, and adapts to you.
I'm a complete beginner. Is that okay?
Yes. You don’t have to prepare yourself to deserve a teacher, a beginner isn’t an inconvenience, a beginner is a learner at the beginning. On your first call, we’ll figure out exactly which lesson format fits your starting point, including whether general lessons or certification prep makes more sense for you.
Isn't a cheaper tutor basically the same?
Speaking Italian and teaching Italian are different skills. A native speaker knows the language. A qualified teacher knows how to sequence material, recognize learning patterns, and correct without overwhelming you.
What if I make mistakes?
You do not become confident and then speak. You speak, recover, and become more confident. A lesson is a lower-risk place to try, be corrected, and continue.
I'm worried I'm too old to start now.
You’re not too old. You may just need a method that respects how you learn now, and starting later doesn’t make the goal any less meaningful. One student began Italian completely from scratch at 73, and through consistent practice over a couple of years, passed the citizenship language exam. Age isn’t what stands between you and speaking Italian, the right method is.
Do I need to commit to a long block of lessons upfront?
No. There’s no large upfront payment, all lessons are billed monthly. For all Italian Lessons, I recommend about three months as a realistic runway to see real progress. That’s guidance, not a requirement, and you’re never locked into more than a month at a time.
Will I keep the same teacher throughout?
Yes. You’re matched with either Alice herself or one of Alice’s approved method-trained teachers if she has a waiting list. You keep your same teacher throughout, so the relationship deepens over time instead of restarting with someone new.
I only need to pass the B1 citizenship exam, not become fluent. Is that still a fit?
Preparation is focused on the exam, but the speaking and comprehension you build support the citizenship journey beyond it too. Passing matters. So does being able to use the Italian that comes after it.
What's the difference between B1 exam prep and Citizenship Consulting?
B1 exam prep is language instruction for the citizenship exam requirement. Citizenship Consulting is separate, it addresses eligibility, pathway, and process questions, not language teaching.
What Happens Next
Whether you’re here for general lessons or working toward the B1 citizenship exam or another certification, the next step is the same conversation.
- Book a call. A no-pressure first conversation. Pronti? Via!
- Talk with Alice. She'll go over your goals and options with you directly, whether that's general lessons, B1 exam prep, or certification prep.
- Get scheduled. Once your path is clear, you're set up with your lesson format and a consistent teacher.
